You don't have to be crazy to go to Therapy!

For so long therapy has had such a negative outlook. It has been viewed as this place only people with major issues visit. Honestly, who doesn't have issues? We are all low-key crazy in our own way. EVERYONE goes through trials and tribulations in life, and sometimes need someone to talk to. Most people don't go to therapy because they don't think they need it.

Mental health is a topic that recently has been getting lots of attention because there are too many unstable people out there who are not getting the help they need and making extremely bad decisions that affect everyone near them. It has also been mentioned by "regular" people who are just living their life and find themselves engaging in mental health techniques. For example, practicing yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, and even feng-shui are all ways to work on your mental health. Therapy is just another form of doing so. When we find ourselves repeating destructive habits, feeling lonely, confused, lost, hiding things from others, and not making good decisions we should seek counsel. Going to therapy and having someone to talk to that will not judge you during those times can be very beneficial.

I wanted to bring up this issue because so many people are missing out on the benefits therapy can have on their lives because they are caught up on what others will think. A therapist, or counselor is a trained professional who went to school for years in order to fully listen and help you live a better life. Anyone can enjoy the benefits of therapy, whether you want to set life goals or establish healthy relationships. You don’t need to be in a debilitating crisis to get support.

If people are proactive about their mental health, they can prevent their concerns from festering into a larger problem. Therapy can provide relief from symptoms and restore one’s quality of life. It can help people learn how to be themselves again. And gain perspective on different situations. Everyone has emotional challenges. In the U.S, solutions are available to more people than ever. No one needs to suffer alone.

Most large corporations and universities offer free counseling. If you are in a place where talking to someone could possibly benefit you, please reach out to your HR departments and get the help you need!
